The Unblinking Ear Podcast 10/30/17

Well, it's been a while!

While, I'd rather not go into detail of the happenings of my personal life that coincided with the 4-month gap between episodes of this podcast (I'm a spy, OK?), will let you know a few things you may have missed:

I did not one, not two, but three fill-ins on WFMU. Listen to the results my Discogs transactions.

Unblinking Ear Records released the 4th album from Plates of Cake, Let's Not Deprive Each Other. It rules. Get yourself a copy.




I recorded a guest appearance for several episodes of the Decline Minute Podcast, where The Decline of Western Civilization (the documentary on the Los Angeles punk scene circa 1980, not current events) is dissected minute-by-minute . They're on hiatus themselves but I believe I'll be the first guest when they come back.

A lot of fine people died. I mentioned a few in the latest podcast. However, between its recording and posting, Mike Hudson of the Pagans passed away, which I'd be remiss if I didn't mention. RIP Mike.

Anyway, after several false starts and many, many Garageband crashes, here's the new podcast.

I'm going to forgo my usual apology for the lateness of this podcast and instead, simply tell you what's been going on in Unblinking Ear HQ in the interim:

Our showcases for the Northside Fest were enormously successful (read: adequate). If you missed out, you can hear the Gotobeds set on NYC Taper.

Our name your price digital single series Office Supplies continued with entries from Trés Oui and Big Bliss. We also have a tote/record bag (as modeled by Taylor above) available for sale! It comes with a free download of our Serious Rockers comp (though you should really own it already).

I did a pair of fill-ins on WFMU, one my usual nonsense and one a "dad rock" special for Father's Day. Not sure what dad rock is? Don't worry. It's made up.

Finally, Jared Leibowich is on tour, including a Brooklyn show with Big Quiet and Big Bliss. Go see him. He's nice.

While the promotional cycle for Serious Rockers has ended (but you can certainly still purchase it!), Unblinking Ear Records is proud to announce some new projects:

• A 7" from Big Quiet (who have their cassette release show this Saturday at Pet Rescue)

The Unblinking Ear Podcast 11/20/14

So it's been about a month since my last podcast. If you missed me, I do hope you caught my fill in on WFMU in the interim. (With only a two out of 12 song overlap with this current podcast!) I think it should be worth the wait because we're unveiling the cover art for the forthcoming Unblinking Ear Records compilation Serious Rockers, design by Lauren Jantz. We can also let you know that the official release date for the digital version will be Tuesday, December 9th, 2014. Cassette version should be available shortly thereafter. We'll keep you posted.
